COATED ASCORBIC ACID, TYPE EC is a white to slightly yellow powder consisting of ascorbic acid coated with ethyl cellulose. It is used in the food industry for its antioxidant properties. COATED ASCORBIC ACID, TYPE EC helps protect food products from oxidation and degradation. The coating retards the influence of other ingredients present in formulas. COATED ASCORBIC ACID, TYPE EC meets all requirements of compendial standards when tested according to these compendia. It is stable to air if protected from humidity, but is somewhat sensitive to heat. COATED ASCORBIC ACID, TYPE EC can be stored for 18 months from the date of manufacture in the unopened original container and at a temperature below 25 °C.
