Advancing our tree‑planting initiative to support long‑term climate resilience.
At Chemspec Europe 2026, IMCD reinforced its commitment to sustainability by continuing its “plant a tree” initiative in partnership with PLANT-MY-TREE®. Building on the success of last year, the initiative invited visitors to the IMCD booth to actively contribute to reforestation and CO₂ compensation efforts in Germany.
Supporting reforestation and biodiversity in Germany
Since 2007, PLANT-MY-TREE® has been delivering reforestation projects across Germany with a strong focus on environmental and climate protection. In addition to planting new forests, the organisation also implements forest conversion and forest protection projects to enhance biodiversity and long-term ecosystem resilience.
By planting mixed forests tailored to regional conditions, these projects help create natural habitats for insects and wildlife while contributing to sustainable CO₂ compensation where emissions originate.
Long-term climate protection with measurable impact
A defining feature of PLANT-MY-TREE®’s approach is its long-term commitment to sustainability. Trees are primarily planted on company-owned land, with project durations of at least 99 years, during which no logging or commercial use is permitted.
This ensures that each tree planted contributes to long-lasting climate protection. The organisation’s processes and quality standards are independently verified, with successful recertification by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2015.
A partnership driving sustainable action
IMCD has partnered with PLANT-MY-TREE® since 2023, supporting reforestation and promoting responsible business practices within the speciality chemicals industry.
This initiative is part of IMCD’s broader sustainability approach, which includes the Greener Solutions initative for sustainable synthesis. Within IMCD’s Synthesis business in Pharmaceuticals, Greener Solutions supports customers in developing more sustainable chemical processes by enabling the use of greener raw materials, improving process efficiency, and helping reduce environmental impact across synthesis applications. It acts as a collaborative platform between IMCD, suppliers, and customers to identify and implement more sustainable alternatives without compromising performance or quality.
The continuation of the “plant a tree” initiative at Chemspec Europe reflects IMCD’s ongoing focus on sustainability and its ambition to engage stakeholders in meaningful environmental action.
Through initiatives like this, IMCD continues to support climate protection, biodiversity, and sustainable development, recognising that collective action today helps create a healthier future for generations to come.
